SUMMARY: Responsible for student learning, teaching, instructing, guiding and directing all students assigned to his/her class.  The instructor will assist in maintaining an orderly and safe environment and perform duties as assigned.  The Instructor will plan learning activities to assist students in gaining knowledge, developing skills, and attaining educational goals.  The Teacher is also responsible for measuring and evaluating student progress toward attainment of educational goals.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESOther duties may be assigned

  • Develops and aligns curriculum with Industry and State standards.
  • Works collaboratively with colleagues to develop curriculum, disaggregate student data, and develop strategies to improve student achievement.
  • Teaches District and Industry approved curriculum.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
  • Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of workplace behavior.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Evaluates students’ technical, academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports, and shares information with student, parents and guardians.
  • Promotes parent participation and involvement in educational activities provided for their children.
  • Promotes student participation and involvement in Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSO).  
  • Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
  • Serves on District committees as assigned.
  • Serves on State and National Career and Technical Education (CTE) committees when possible .
  • Performs duties as assigned to maintain order and safety.
  • Engages in professional development that supports the District’s CSIP and Industry standards, and improves teaching skills and the development of student learners leading to improved student achievement.
  • Observes confidentiality regarding students and staff when communicating to others.
  • Observes all policies, rules and regulations of the Board of Education as stated in the Board of Education policies. 
  • Establish and utilize program advisory committees.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises students, aides, and volunteer personnel in classrooms, shops, labs, clinical sites and internships.   

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 6,000 hours of industry experience, or 3,000 hours of industry experience plus a Bachelor of Science Degree.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:  Possess a valid State of Missouri Career Education Teaching Certificate for the appropriate assigned instructional area, or be willing to obtain such certification.

 

EVALUATION:  This position is evaluated in accordance with district policy.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:  9-month employee.  Some areas may require an extended one to two weeks contract.  Salary is to be established by the Board of Education.
